Gettysburg Living History Town Tours

In cooperation with Reluctant Witnesses, Historic Town Tour, and Victorian Carriage Company
Picture
Tour the town of Gettysburg with battle veteran James H. Maclay (as portrayed by actor Jeff Greenawalt).  Walk the center portion of the town, the heartbeat of 1863 Gettysburg, with this local miller who volunteered to serve in the Union Army.  Listen as he brings to life the stories told to him by the townspeople as well as the events that happened to him during and after the battle.  View surviving structures and understand what happened within and without their walls during and soon after the battle. This is a living history tour done in first person.  It is also one history lesson you will never forget!  Stories of the citizens of Gettysburg are taken from the accounts they wrote.  The experiences of James Maclay come from his writings and the history of his unit.

This is a leisurely paced walk… No hiking… on paved roads…wheelchairs are manageable.

Meeting
The tour will start outside 11 Lincoln Square. We will meet by the statue of President Lincoln and the benches. The tour will proceed around the center of the town to visit important landmarks from 1863. We will walk on some of the historic streets and return to the square.  The walking tour will last two hours.
